Remember to Say “Thank you”
Carris Faith Green
Have you ever done something great for someone, and he or she neglected to thank you? If so, how did that make you feel?
This scenario happened to Jesus Himself. We read in Luke’s gospel account:
11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”And as they went, they were cleansed.
15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well” (Luke 17:11-19).
Ten men were healed by Jesus.
One man came back to thank Jesus.
This biblical account has resonated in my heart. And thus, I have sought to thank Jesus daily for my baby girl, Carris Faith. Indeed, I have composed a personal psalm of praise to express my gratitude:
Of Leah. A psalm. After God delivered Carris Faith to her after her losses.
1 I waited on the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted my heart from heaviness; out from the ache of sorrow.
He brought healing to my soul, and He refreshed my spirit.
3 He put a new song in my mouth, a new dance in my feet.
Many will hear what the Lord has done and rejoice in Him.
Perhaps my personal psalm of praise may encourage you to praise God for what He has done in your life. Will we be like the nine healed people who kept going, or will we be like the one who remember to say, “thank you.”
Your Sister-Friend,
Leah
