Pouring Out My Heart to My Father
Father, forgive me and have mercy on me
I confess my pride, my self-reliance, my stubbornness, my distrust, my vanity
I confess my desire to control outcomes and to pen the narrative of my life
I confess all the worldly, temporal attachments within my heart
My soul longs for You
My mind feels like a battlefield
My heart feels heavy
My will feels weak
I imagine who I desire to be, but I’m not sure how to get there—how to become her
What I know would be good to do, I don’t do
What I know I should not do, that I do
Father, help me; save me from myself
Forgive me
Heal me
Cleanse me
Change me
Encourage me
Restore me
Renew me
Help me be who You have created and called me to be
I believe, Father, help my unbelief
In the Mighty Name of Jesus, Amen.
My friend, if you have never written prayers to your Heavenly Father, you may want to consider doing so. We typically consider prayer as speaking or thinking. Yet, we see many written prayers in the Bible! The point is to communicate with our Heavenly Father. It’s not wrong to share our hearts with others, let’s just be sure to share them with our Father first.
Your sister-friend,
Leah
